Marco Island: Fun in the Sun!
Those of you who follow me on Instagram and/or Facebook probably saw that my husband and I were in Florida last week (Tuesday-Sunday). It was such a relaxing & fun time! My sister-in-law’s parents have a condo in Marco Island, and they were gracious enough to let us stay there (along with my sister-in-law, brother-in-law, and niece)! We didn’t get there till really late Tuesday evening & had to leave early Sunday morning to come back, so we had Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, & Saturday to enjoy the sun & activities.
One of the days us ladies enjoyed a local Farmer’s Market, fun shops, & yummy, healthy smoothies while the guys fished (which they did basically everyday 🙂 )!
The condo was right on the water, so it was so nice to be able to just walk out & hang by the pool, beach, or the dock.
We also enjoyed walks along the beach & down the road with my sister-in-law & brother-in-law. It was nice to get some exercise & sun at the same time!
Sitting out on the balcony was one of my favorite things. We tanned, played cards, watched dolphins swim, & also enjoyed the gorgeous sunrises & sunsets.
I loved getting to play with our adorable niece, Charlotte. She’s growing up so fast & is now walking!
I was so excited to cross something off my bucket list – riding a jet ski on the ocean! I’ve ridden them lots of times on lakes, but never on the ocean, and I’ve always wanted to. We went on a 2 1/2 hour guided tour, and it was a blast.
Our last night in Florida, we decided to drive up to Naples & check it out! We had already had an early dinner, so we were planning on getting appetizers, drinks, and/or dessert. We ended up walking around a lot of fun restaurants, but after a while, just decided to get ice cream. We found a really good place called Kilwin’s & sat outside to enjoy our ice cream.
It was such a fun, but also relaxing vacation! It was the perfect time to get out of the Minnesota tundra & into the Florida sun for a bit. It’s currently snowing as I’m writing this, so I’m dreaming of the sun & beach again 🙂
Also, word to the wise (at least wiser than I was) – Put SPF on your lips!! I put sunscreen on my entire body over & over, but forgot to buy chapstick that had SPF in it….so my lips FRIED. Like fried chicken. I woke up Sunday morning with a massively swollen lip with blisters. I’m talking botox, lip-injection big. I was worried about being seen in public like that, but thankfully, the swelling went down within a few hours. The blisters only lasted a few hours as well. But now I still have extremely dry, cracked, crusty lips, so I’ve been reapplying Vaseline petroleum jelly over & over. I’ve never burnt my lips like that before, so now I know to always buy chapstick with SPF in it, especially if I’m out in the sun all day!
