Fish Tacos: Blackened Tilapia with Avocado/Cilantro/Lime Sauce
My husband and I have been craving Fish Tacos lately, so the other night, I looked up recipes and found a good one that I tweaked a bit. Here’s a yummy recipe for Blackened Tilapia with Avocado/Cilantro/Lime Sauce! (I didn’t have our nice camera on hand at the time, so my cell phone pictures will have to do!)
For the Blackened Fish:
2-3 Large Tilapia Fillets, thawed
1 1/2 tsp Paprika
1 tsp Garlic Powder
1 tsp Oregano
1 tsp Onion Powder
1/2 tsp Cumin
1/2 tsp Salt
1/2 tsp Brown Sugar
1/4 tsp Cayenne Pepper
2 Tbsp Canola Oil
For the Avocado/Cilantro/Lime Sauce:
1/2 cup Sour Cream
1 ripe Avocado
1/4 cup chopped Cilantro
Juice of 1 Lime
Dash of Salt
In a small bowl, combine the paprika, garlic powder, oregano, onion powder, cumin, salt, brown sugar, and cayenne pepper. Stir together. Sprinkle the mixture over both sides of the tilapia fillets, then rub in.
Combine all of the Avocado/Cilantro/Lime Sauce ingredients in a blender. Pulse until well-combined.
Heat the canola oil in a pan over medium-high heat. Once heated, add in the tilapia fillets. Cook for 4-5 minutes on each side, or until the outside is blackened and the fish flakes apart easily.
Remove the fillets and cut up into 2-3 inch pieces.
Fill tortillas with fish, lettuce, cheese, and the sauce. Then enjoy!! 🙂
